This island is a great size for most kitchens. I call it the Goldie Locks size!! It works great for those smaller kitchens that you just need something skinny and long to add more work space. And it is just the right size to hide that trash can plus give double sided access to the pantry cabinet with open shelving on the end. And because it opens on both sides you can put the trash on whichever side you need it to be to best fit your kitchen. Then you have the 22x44 solid walnut 2 1/4 inch thick end grain butcher block top that will last lifetimes! End grain butcher blocks are so hard because it is the end of the wood on top, so even after cutting on this butcher block top say for 5 years, you would only have fine scratches that easily cover up with our beeswax mixture.
